The Scott Menke Memorial Fund benefits all Denali Education Center’s youth programs. The fund benefits local students through camp scholarships and the Scott Menke Summit Scholarship for graduating seniors. In addition, funds are channeled toward direct program costs such as gear replacement, food, supplies and campground fees.

The Maureen Sims Memorial Endowment ensures the sustainability of our W.I.L.D. about Denali program. Currently, the endowment provides scholarships to partner agencies that either encourage participants to apply or decide to which individual(s) the scholarship(s) will be granted. It is our hope to grow the endowment so that it will support the entire program cost.

This fund was created in Ellen’s memory to support opportunities for young people to participate in outdoor adventure programs and learn about stewardship of wild places. Ellen was a Northern Susitna Institute board member, now Denali Education Center. We are honored to provide these scholarships in Ellen’s name, a true lover of wild places and advocate for “letting nature run wild.” Ellen’s kind and gentle spirit continue to guide us as we connect kids to Denali and the special community of Talkeetna.
